Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Oil the 2-qt casserole dish.
1 Tablespoon olive oil
Brown the 2 meats and diced onion on medium or medium-low heat in a frying pan.
¾ lb ground beef, ½ lb pork sausage, 1 medium sweet onion, diced
After meat is browned, add in the rest of the meat sauce mixture's ingredients and stir to combine well. Reduce heat to lowest and put lid on pan.
3 medium diced tomatoes, 6 ozs tomato paste, 1 Tablespoon sugar, 2 Tablespoons parsley flakes, ½ teaspoon basil, 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Skip this step if you're using "Oven ready" pasta. Set aside enough of the classic lasagna pasta for 3 layers to fit your chosen casserole size. You should now boil pasta 4-5 minutes. After boiling, run pasta pot under faucet to replace hot water with cool water. Leave water in pot and pull out each pasta when layering is needed.

Combine all cheese mixture ingredients. Add enough water to make it easily spreadable.
8 ozs mozzarella cheese, ⅓ cup parmesan cheese, grated, 6 ozs ricotta cheese, 8 ozs cottage cheese, 1 large egg, ½ cup water
Layer Step 1: Add and spread out ⅓ meat sauce mixture layer to casserole dish.
Layer Step 2: Add a full lasagna pasta layer.
Layer Step 3: Add and spread out ⅓ cheese mixture layer.
Repeat above 3 layers steps two (2) more times to finish using mixtures.
Cover casserole with foil and put in 375°F oven (middle shelf) for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and continue baking for 25 more minutes.
Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes. Can optionally sprinkle some parsley flakes on top. Cut and serve.
