Can You FREEZE Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes and Ham?

When people ask can you freeze scalloped potatoes and ham, I tell them they can but it will lose its overall quality of texture by about half. So, after thawing out and reheating, the potatoes will be extra mushy. Also, the creamy mixture of milk and cheese will have signs of separation and lose some of its melded flavors.

Overall, I’ve tried freezing and gently thawing out a few different ways. After that, each time it resulted in food that tasted like the store bought frozen packaged casseroles. However, if you’re fine with that, go for it.

  • ½ lb ham cubed or thin sliced pieces
  • cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Oil a 2 qt. casserole dish.
