1 cup water, 2 Tablespoons olive oil, 1 Tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 cups bread flour, 2 Tablespoons Vital Wheat Gluten, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon instant yeast
Preheat the oven to 500°F. Prep the cast iron pan by coating the cooking surface with oil. Sprinkle corn meal across the same pan surface.
1 Tablespoon oil, 1 Tablespoon cornmeal mix
Rollout dough and place into the coated pan, stretching it out to be against the round edging.
2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
Add the sauce and your choice of toppings in the order shown. All toppings are optional.
½ cup tomato-based sauce, ¼ lb pork sausage, 8 oz mozzarella cheese, ⅓ medium bell pepper, ⅓ medium onion, ½ medium tomato, 2 oz deli ham, ⅔ teaspoon Italian Seasonings, 2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese, 1½ ozs Pepperoni slices
Transfer topped pizza onto baking surface in preheated 500°F oven onto the 2nd from upper shelf.Baking TIME guidelines: cast iron pan (20-24 minutes or preheated iron pan 16-22 minutes).
When done, remove pan from oven and let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Can slice directly in pan and serve.
Notes
The option to preheat the cast iron pizza pan along with preheating the oven is also available. It's used by those who have experience in using a pizza peel in order to transfer a prepped pizza directly onto a hot, preheated iron pizza pan. So, if you use this method, be sure to monitor your pizza and reduce the cook time by about 2 to 4 minutes less. It will cook faster when using a preheated pizza pan cooking surface.
