Recipes to Make with Beefy Onion Soup Mix

Make Onion CHIP DIP With Beefy Onion Soup Mix

Generally, just add a couple of cups of sour cream (16 oz.) to this homemade mix and you’ll have your Chip Dip. Equally, make a smaller amount with 8 oz of sour cream and half the recipe (1-1/2 tablespoons of mix).

Make Onion Soup

Once in a while, you might just want onion soup. So, just add 1 packet (i.e., 1 recipe) of this onion soup mix to 2 cups of boiling water. Mix until all dissolved and it’s ready to serve. Additionally, an extra option is to top it with a small amount of mozzarella cheese.

Apply Beefy Onion Soup Mix as a Steak or Roast Rub

This is a perfect rub for steaks or roasts. Also, it’s great for either pork or beef. So, when ready, just use it lightly on steaks and heavy on roasts. It’s also great when lightly applied as a rub on chicken for grilling or barbecuing.

Storing Your Homemade Beefy Onion Soup Mix

This copy cat recipe is for 1 packet like Lipton Onion Soup & Dip Mix. So, you can store it in food sandwich bags or a spice jar. It keeps as long as the shortest lifespan of the ingredients used. I’ve kept mine for about a year or two but I make the amount of about 4 packets at one time.

And, if you make extra of this mix and store in a spice jar or snack baggie, you’ll always be ready for having a chip dip when that snack urge strikes. It saves a lot of money when you make your own onion soup mix dip sour cream recipe.

This recipe makes about 3 tablespoons of it to equate to 1 packet from the store. So, I use the Recipe Resizer and make it in quantities of several times the amount.

When mixed into sour cream as a chip dip, it lasts about 1-2 weeks inf the fridge. However, that’s if the sour cream had at least a 2-3 week life remaining.
